I am a 5th grade teacher at Mill Creek East Elementary, and I love it! I've student taught 1st graders at a private Christian school, and 5th graders at a public school. I graduated with honors Indiana State University with Bachelor's degree in Elementary education with a minor in reading. I also studied abroad in Australia for a semester.
I mostly have what my professors would call a "tigger" style of teaching. It may appear chaotic at times, but the students are having fun and learning at the same time. 5th grade was one of my least favorite years in school, and I do not want that to happen with my students. I also operate on the view that I need to make each lesson as entertaining as possible, because I don't want them to mentally dump everything as soon as the test is over, like I did a lot. Kids need to see that everything I teach them does have a purpose. If that involves them being a tad more chatty, so be it.
I received Summa Cum Laude at ISU with my degree in Elementary education. I passed Praxis II on my first try! that was a big deal for me :)
I graduated from Tri-West High School in 2009. I then graduated from ISU in 2013
I have fantastic friends, and a wonderful family. God's greatest gifts!
