TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been an educator for 20 years. My first five years of teaching were at the high school level; 9th grade was my absolute favorite. I moved on to supplemental learning and worked as a Director of Education at Sylvan for five years. After being a stay-at-home mom for the next seven years, I found myself teaching again at my daughters' school! I currently teach 7th grade writing and 8th grade literature! I love every minute of it!

MY TEACHING STYLE

I definitely think "outside the box!" My students and peers would say I am creative and organized. I think it is important to incorporate technology in order to make lessons appealing and relevant to students. They love pop culture, so I am always finding ways to sneak that in!

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

More than any honor or award I could ever receive, my favorite moments are those when my former students come to visit me or send me personal notes. That is a reward beyond measure!

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

B.A. English Education (1996)

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I am a proud military wife. My husband is an officer in the Army, and we have been through three deployments together. We have two daughters and a West Highland White Terrier who make us smile and laugh daily!
