TEACHING EXPERIENCE

As a recent college graduate in December 2010, I have completed my student teaching in an "Excellent with Distinction" rated school, Perrysburg. While there, my mentor teachers gave me the freedom of trying new ideas, implementing my strategies around the classroom, and discovering the teaching style I like best. I taught 7th grade Language Arts and Reading and 8th grade American History. I accepted a position in a private school as an 8th grade homeroom interim teacher a few months later. While there I taught 8th grade Reading and American History along with 6th and 7th Social Studies and 7th grade Math. This year I will be teaching 6th grade Language Arts, Reading, and Social Studies in Leipsic, Ohio.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I am a very student-centered teacher and believe all students learn best differently. It's up to me, their teacher, to find what strategy works best for them and use diverse teaching strategies, never teaching the same way every day.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I am from a small suburban town, Maumee, in northwest Ohio. Loving American History, this part of Ohio is rich in key events and battles including many important people that shaped our American heritage and it is one of my favorite things to share this knowledge with my students. I could tell you how Toledo, Ohio could be the wealthiest city in the world. It's an opinion but based on facts. I'm very active and love the outdoors. Traveling is something I enjoy very much. Recently, I went to Mackinac Island (which is one of the prettiest place I've been where pure Lake Michigan looks like the Caribbean!) and came back an engaged woman! :) We will give our vows next June 22, 2013. I have been very blessed this past year.
