I graduated with my teaching certificate in 2000, and taught high school for two years. After teaching for two years I had the opportunity to go in to clinical research (adult education) and spent the next 10 years helping people understand and manage their chronic conditions and become healthier. I took 3 years off from working to be a stay at home mom to my 12 year old daughter and run back and forth to NEPA while my daughters father worked in the oil field. When the bubble burst I tested for ,y Special Education certification and returned to the classroom. I am currently an SLC aide and once I have a firm grasp on the paperwork side of SpEd I will be moving into a teaching role.
I like to think of myself as a teacher who uses the "whatever works" style of teaching. Just because one strategy works for one kiddo doesn't mean it will work for all...therefore I utilize many different methods of teaching...including the "sneak up and teach" method...if they are having fun they are learning without even realizing it.
