I taught Honors, Academic, and Applied Physics at Altoona Area High School for seven years and taught Foundations of Science (9th grade chemistry, physics, and ecology) and Conceptual Physics at Ephrata High School for two years before moving to my current position of Technology Integrator in the EASD.
My teaching style is interactive, inquiry-based, and fun. I like to tie in real-world applications and make my students think. Creativity is a must!
Altoona Area School District CARE Award Winner Saint Francis University Outstanding Graduate Student
I am a proud alumna of the Pennsylvania State University, graduating in 2007 with a bachelor's degree in Secondary Education. I am Pennsylvania certified in secondary Physics, secondary Mathematics, and K-12 Principalship, and I have an Online Teaching endorsement. I received my Masters in Educational Leadership from Saint Francis University and completed my Principal's Practicum in 2014. In 2015, I completed an Online Instruction Endorsement program at Millersville University, which is some of the most meaningful coursework I have ever done. It changed my face-to-face teaching every bit as much as it challenged me to incorporate technology in my classroom.
I live in Ephrata, Pennsylvania, with my husband, who is a sixth grade Science, Social Studies, and Writing teacher at Ephrata Intermediate School. We have two turtles, Gunther and Franklin. I am a huge fan of the Milwaukee Brewers, New York Jets, and all things Penn State! I love sports, music, reading, and traveling. Follow me @MsHoopThereItIs on Facebook and Twitter!
