I've spent many years teaching students English and literacy through intervention and in mainstream English.
I have a relaxed teaching style. I like students to be interactive and enjoy lessons and whereas lessons created are challenging and expectations are high, they can also be made fun.

The resources on this site are designed to support the teaching of the key skills in reading and writing. They are ideal for KS3 literacy groups and low attaining KS4 intervention classes as a top up to their existing curriculum. Differentiation in the listed lesson plans is evident through a coloured worksheet system. I call these worksheets a 'trip' as they all have a starting point and an expectation of where this trip will lead to. For example the: * RED TRIP for low attaining students (where lots of support is provided, texts are amended to aid understanding and glossaries are provided); * ORANGE TRIP for average attaining students (less support than the red journey, text not amended but glossary provided and maybe sentence stems provided for main task. At times more questions are added to create a challenge); * GREEN TRIP for high attaining students (no support is given, text is not amended and no glossary would be provided. and questions may be worded differently to create more of a challenge. They are designed to look similar so that when printed (in black and white) students will be unaware that they maybe working on a different journey to a peer in the class/group. If placed inside exercise these make an excellent revision tool.
