TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I've taught High School Art in Overland Park, Kansas for 9 years - subjects that I've taught include: Introduction to Studio Art -Graphic Design -Printmaking -Painting (Oil, Acrylic, and Watercolor) -Drawing I, Drawing II -Portfolio Preparation -Advanced Placement Studio Art (2D, 3D, and Drawing portfolios). In addition to teaching, I acted as a Division Coordinator in my building for Visual Art, Performing Art, and Physical Education and outside my building as a mentor teacher in Drawing for new faculty.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I am very business-like in my teaching style. I have a great deal of respect for my students because Art can be emotionally trying, but also very rewarding. I always want my students to know what they can expect from their effort - in grades, skill improvement, etc. That is one of the reasons I am a big believer in rubics and examples - which students should have access to the entire time they're working on a project.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT
