TEACHING EXPERIENCE

By May, I will have about five months of classroom teaching experience thanks to student teaching. I have taught in a public and private school, as well as at the high-school and middle-school level. As a student teacher, I wrote lesson plans, created my own instructional materials, and taught multiple classes. I have experience teaching U.S. History and Contemporary Issues (Current Events) at the high-school level, as well as Social Studies at the middle-school level. Aside from student teaching, I acted as mentor and coordinator for a student writer’s group at a local elementary school. I created writing prompts, helped students writing poetry and short stories, and put together a literary journal for them at the end of the semester.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I play the fiddle in an Irish band, and though I didn’t fall in love with an Englishman, I did study abroad in the UK for a year. I visited Hampton Court, Windsor, Shakespeare's birthplace, and essentially every museum I could find. I also enjoy writing poetry, exploring topics in women’s history, learning random, useless trivia facts, and keeping up with the news. I also have a little black cat named Eefa, and she keeps me company while I write lesson plans and grade papers.
