For many happy years, I served as counselor and musical coach to a fun-loving choir known as "Lessia's Crew." During this sweet adventure, I stumbled upon a magic formula. I realized I could enlighten and empower students by placing usable life wisdom into songs that were addictively fun to sing. As my gifted crew became a "Santa Barbara Phenom!" (Montecito Journal,) we began recording in a fancy studio - my kiddos shining as lead singers. Justin Timberlake's drummer played drums for us. How cute is that? His name is Bucket - and he's a hoot! We actually almost had a TV show based on our story - it would have been like Glee, but without the drama. We were chill! I'm up in pretty Sonoma now - happy to report that helping kids fill their pockets with wisdom still earns me giant hugs. "Your songs are saving my life!" I get that a lot. I love my work :-)
Kids hate lectures - but are attracted to songs that make them feel "in tune" and all grown up. My students never feel as if I'm trying to make a point with them - we're just observing the world together. Giggles and deep conversations abound. And much of the time, we're writing. I'm addicted to words and share this passion with my students. BP lyric lines make perfect writing prompts and lead to lots of critical thinking. As a highly trained songwriter and producer, it's easy for me to create material proven to appeal to all demographics. Music teachers: BP songs not only help with classroom behavior, they also teach song form, intervals, are great for writing in music class - the works! My mission is to help kids find their most powerful voices inside and out. Sing a song, get a clue. And PS, they're great for choirs too :-) After all, they were inspired by my own crew!
We once received a fan letter from Susan Sarandon. She said she loved our music, then offered up her youngest son to be our bass player. Adorable or what? A Beach Boy asked me write with him once. Much fun! He wanted to produce and album with me too, but we ran out of time. My life has been full of surprises - I've been really blessed. One student chose my songs as her "Hero" for a classroom project. I was so humbled! I've had songs serve as backdrops for award-winning documentaries, won oodles of music and writing contests, but honestly, a hug from any student is the best reward of all.

The endearing voices on our studio recordings include Jessie Bridges- daughter of actor, Jeff, Viva - daughter of Martin Gore of "Depeche Mode," and Rachel Sand, a young actor who shares a manager with Hilary Duff. I've co-produced with Alan Thicke (Growing Pains,) consulted for MTV boy rock bands - produced a SBTV humor-meets-wisdom show. Being mom to two amazing boys has been my favorite job of all. My sweetie's name is Teddy. He's Canadian.
