For a magical decade, I served as teacher and counselor to an awesome pop choir known as "Lessia's Crew". During that sweet adventure, I noticed I could empower kids greatly by sprinkling mature wisdom into addictive fun-to-sing songs. As "Lessia's Crew" became "a Santa Barbara phenom" (Montecito Journal,) we began recording in a top notch studio - backed by an awesome band that included Justin Timberlake's drummer! My young singers served as lead singers on most songs. Since then, our tunes have traveled the world! I'm in Sonoma now, still helping kids collect wisdom for their pockets. "Your songs are saving my life!" I get that a lot. I love my work.
BP pop songs serve a purpose. Thoughtfully crafted melodies enhance music study and inspire choirs of all ages. Deep lyrics support critical thinking units, inspire creative writing, and help with behavior management too. Topics are timely; social skills, kindness, a humorous approach to grumpy moods, self respect, respect of others. Lessons cover both ELA and music standards. I've been told my songs assist with super powers! Let's help our kids be mindful, truly kind, and caring towards the world. As for as style - that's too cute a question. I'm no nonsense, use humor a lot ) take no prisoners with it!) and have also been told I'm "funny nutty random!" Once in a while I get called Yoda.
When a student chose my songs as her "hero" for an important classroom project, I was forever touched. One of the Beach Boys asked me to write with him for Disney. Oh my - that made my life! BP songs have been on award-winning documentaries, won oodles of awards, but a hug from any student is the best reward of all. I just found this on our youtube page: "I can't even tell you how long I've loved Fearless! I know it may sound lame, but this song touches more than my heart, it embraces my soul. This song means so much to me and has helped me through some dark and scary times in my life. It's kept me holding on. I wish I had better words than "thank you for this beautiful song", but I am so grateful for its existence." Dear sweet teachers, I'm woefully disorganized - not driven enough to do what it takes on TpT to get to the top. But that's not why I'm here. I'm here because I want everyone to be fearless. And be kind. And have hope.
