I am a licensed elementary teacher; nevertheless, I have used my Bachelor's of Arts degree in Spanish to teach in the high school. I served four years as an ESL teaching assistant at Shelbyville Central Schools. I am currently a special education teaching assistant at Webb Elementary School and Needham Elementary School.
I value using student-centered activities that focus on the students' strengths and weaknesses. I try my best to get the students' attention by looking at what is popular in the culture. I will often choose a theme for my classroom. For my student teaching experience at Southwestern Consolidated School, I decided to choose "Star Wars".
The biggest award in teaching is those light bulb moments and seeing how I have affected the learning of a child. It's all about the students.
As a student, learning was quite difficult for me. Diagnosed with a language delay, simple classroom tasks took me a while longer to complete. My processing skills were not that quick; however, my biggest strength in school was my hard work ethic. I have used that hard work ethic to earn a Bachelor's Degree at Ball State University and a teaching certificate for elementary education.
I am a resident of Shelbyville, IN. I completed my student teaching in a first grade classroom.
