This is my 15th year of teaching. I taught first grade for three years, fourth grade for three years, reading coach for one year, literacy coach for grades 4th-12th for two years, fifth grade teacher for one year and presently I teach sixth grade! WHEW! I have been the Teacher of the Year for my county twice and for my state district once! I am National Board Certified and Renewed!
I am a highly structured, loud (LOL), and consistent teacher. I am a stickler for rules and make all of my students follow them. I vary group work, individual work and partner work. I follow the Common Core Standards and my state's College and Career Ready Standards. I am more of a facilitator than a lecturer. I think when children struggle, they learn. However, I never let them struggle into frustration. I use questioning to guide them to where I need them to go.
