TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been a librarian for over 25 years now and have taught all age levels. I'm returning to work as a high school on an island in the Pacific Northwest. I love the challenge of working with high schoolers again!

MY TEACHING STYLE

I design my teaching to introduce a new idea with students and then coach them to find out what they need to know. I love literature and enjoy creating literature studies that allow students to explore novels further.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I write the "Electronic Eye" Column for VOYA -- Voice of Youth Advocates and was the 2013 recipient of the New York Times / Carnegie Corporation's "I Love My Librarian" award. I'm currently working on my National Boards.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

BS in Education, Ball State University MLS, Rutgers University.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

When I'm not working, I'm trying to find new and creative ways to inspire my 3rd grade son to love learning, especially the writing process, which is challenging for him.
