TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have spent most of my eleven years of teaching in third and fifth grade. I enjoyed one year in second and then looped back up to third grade again. In third grade I taught all subject areas and enjoyed them all. In fifth grade I worked in a departmentalized team. I was responsible for exclusively teaching math for three to four periods a day.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My teaching style has been influenced from the needs of my students. I was lucky enough to have been trained in Kagan Strategies and have also attended several teaching conferences where I learned some wonderful tips to engage students and increase achievement. I believe learning should be fun and meaningful. Students remember what they made, a game they played, or the excitement they feel when they are successful with concepts that might have initially been challenging to them. My goal as an educator is to increase engagement and achievement in my classroom.
