TEACHING EXPERIENCE

12 years teaching one-on-one and small groups, in home education, and co-op setting; teaching all subjects, grades pre-k through 9th. 7 years as private tutor; teaching reading & writing skills, math, and study skills to students kindergarten though 10th grade.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I embrace multiple intelligence theory and try to create lessons and activities that bring out the natural abilities of my students. I look to use strengths to build upon weaknesses and use piqued interest to spur curiosity to encourage authentic learning. My teaching tends to focus on concepts rather than facts and developing skills rather than passing tests.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Tutors don't often receive honors or awards, but every time I help a student achieve their goals, I feel honored! You can take a look at what a some of my past students (or their parents) have had to say about my work with them. Check out my Wyzant Tutor Profile

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Bachelors in social science w/concentration early education from Ashford University. Also minored in Childhood Development and a strong focus on Teaching English as a Second Language.
