I've been teaching for 18 years. I taught 10 years of kindergarten, 7 years of first grade, and 1 year of second. I've enjoyed it all! I think lower primary students or as I call them, the littles, are truly my passion! I'm currently back in first and loving every minute of it!
Littles need engagement, hands on activities, routines, and opportunities! I try to figure out in my day to day how to keep my kiddos excited about learning and also how to help them become "students,' and problem solve.
I was named "Teacher of the Year" by my most prestigious colleagues in 2005. I was deeply humbled and honored!
I received my Bachelor of Science in Recreation Administration with emphasis in Outdoor Education at San Diego State University. Yes! It was awesome!! I went back to get my teaching credential a few year later after working in education programs with the California State Parks. I always say, "I was always teaching~ I just brought my teaching inside!"
I'm loving life! I'm married with 2 wonderful step children who actually come to school with me! And I have one little one of my own~ 19 months! #livingthedream!
