ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Yet to Dr. Rother is a multi-award winning educator whose experience includes but is not limited to teaching, volunteering, consulting, advising, and designing curriculum at the school, university, provincial and international levels in a variety of disciplines with diverse educators and students. He is regarded by many educators and academics as one of the most innovative pedagogues in Quebec, if not in Canada. In April 2011 Dr. Rother was nominated for Canada’s Prime Minister’s Award of Teaching Excellence. Dr. Rother has successfully participated on various education reform projects at the government, ministerial, tertiary, school board, school and community levels. He demonstrated strong leadership qualities in a wide range of curriculum design, content, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, review and development. Dr. Rother collaborated admirably with senior-level internal management in many parts of the world for various agencies and non-profit organizations (NGO’s). He skillfully led a provincial commission on transforming classroom culture through integrating Media Literacy, traditional and non-traditional literacy approaches and ICT into curriculum and using multi-media technologies to enhance teaching and learning. His passion for education is evident in his many volunteer projects he personally initiated or in which he was invited to participate. He enthusiastically volunteered with hundreds of youth and educators in Nigeria and Kenya. Dr. Rother being invited as Executive Board Member for several education associations in Canada as well as internationally, including Education Beyond Borders Canada, Project Kenya Sister School and Youth for Technology Nigeria. His international reputation led to his being invited to various unique forums. He was one of six Canadians invited to participate in Education, Democracy and Identity in Conflict Areas, a conference held at the University of Bethlehem attended by over a hundred Palestinian educators; one of two Canadians among only four Westerners to present at the First International Media Education Conference in Beijing, China; honorary assistant professor at the University of Hong Kong. He demonstrated strong leadership in developing and facilitates numerous provincial, national and international conferences for educators, administrators and MOE officials to exchange best practices in curriculum and policy development. As well Dr. Rother is often requested to present papers and workshops across Canada and internationally. His extensive and unique international work as well as co-founder of two education related associations in Quebec and Canada. be added
