TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching mathematics for 18 years: 8 years at the middle school level (grades 7 and 8) and 10 years at the high school level (Algebra II).

MY TEACHING STYLE

I love to teach math by appealing to my students' intuition and prior knowledge. I strongly feel that students should not simply be shown how to do algebra problems because of the danger of leaving out the real mathematics they should be learning. I believe that students should be presented with relevant tasks that will lead them to create their own knowledge about the mathematics under investigation.
