An enthusiastic and energetic bilingual professional, combining a strong academic background with extensive experience in teaching and customer facing environments. Experienced in teaching Italian to English- and Spanish- speaking students and able to work well on own initiative demonstrating the organization and prioritization required to achieve important goals. Good knowledge of all teaching Italian language methods acquired during the training and strong analytical skills to manage teamwork and the classes. Able to bring about diverse educational programs (task-based lessons, conversation and culture, grammar and vocabulary) and to engage students to learn Italian with hands-on daily activities.
My ideas on teaching are to have a plan and stick to fundamentals. I think a teacher must first listen and be very patient and consequently I spend a lot of time in stimulating interaction, making sure everyone is included and trying to identify common interests and themes in conversations. My strategy consists of building a “learning playground” using the kids’ own relationships with one another as well as the relationship with the world around them. I believe that if students are comfortable in the class environment they will use the language to have fun and get to know each other. I like planning class activities based on interaction and references to daily life like TV series, videogames, past vacations, family events or city landmarks.
