I've spent my teaching career in a Kinder, 1st and 4th grade classroom. I've worked on curriculum for the district for several years and spent 2 years working in the curricul department as a specialist. I love writing lessons that are aligned to the state standards and full of rigor! These lessons will promote student rigor and learning, and will support ELL learners.
My teaching style is an interactive approach that involves student centered activities. The open ended thinking maps and questions promote higher order thinking and accountable talk.
I received the AWARE award for all K-2 teachers for my district. I was awarded a large plaque for my own desk, one for my school and my name added to a plaque in central admin. I was observed by 6 different people who judged my teaching, lessons and student learning.
After receiving my bachelors in early childhood, I continued my education to receive my masters. After graduating with my masters I continued to take higher Ed classes in Foundations of Literacy to learn how to truly teach reading and writing effectively. While working as a curriculum specialist I was trained in effective curriculum writing and alignment for grades PreK-5th. I currently work in a school district as an elementary Assistant Principal and get to plan and work with preK-4 grade levels.
I have 2 young children of my own and use my experiences with them to fill my understanding of different learners!
