MY TEACHING STYLE

I have developed a balance between humor, passion for science, and inquiry, but also enjoy presenting material via lecture. The note taking strategies I employ include "making notes" which uses guided notes, but riddles the guided notes packet with funny and informative pictures and questions that must be answered/pictures drawn as the notes are being taken. This forces the students to think about the material, tie current material into concepts previously learned and to keep the students consistently engaged. This results in all types of learners becoming engaged, as it allows each type of learner adapt their note taking experience to their own personal style of learning.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I am a Biologist that loves to teach. I have been published as a result of research I conducted during my time at SUNY Fredonia. I attempt to teach students by simplifying complex ideas by relating them to things that they encounter every day. I also like to include discrepant events and misconception correction to develop student interest in the sciences.
