TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been an itinerant teacher for deaf and hard of hearing students for seven years, working for an education agency in Iowa. I work with students B-21, and typically focus on vocabulary, language, listening, and self-advocacy skills. I also work closely with our school audiologists and dhh paras. Currently, I am assigned to a large inner city public school system, where I have students of all age ranges and abilities. Often, I am in five school buildings in one day, so my schedule can be very hectic! Because I work in the public school system, most of my students use hearing aids and cochlear implants and are oral communicators. Their biggest struggles are access and vocabulary/language.
