TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am currently a senior Education Major at DBU. I have had experience teaching in preschool, kindergarten, and 2nd grade classrooms. I am finishing my B.S. in Early childhood through 6th grade at Dallas Baptist University. I currently work with a nonprofit organization and head up the preschool and kindergarten classroom at this organization. It is an after school program. I teach students reading skills such as phonics, letter recognition, and decoding. We also do science projects and number skills. I work with students from different schools and am therefore exposed to many teaching styles and academic programs. This has given me a great deal of experience. I am learning new things every day and am so excited to graduate and start my full-time teaching career.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I believe strongly in constructivist classrooms. Students need to be engaged and have opportunities for active learning. As a teacher, I view my role as a guide and facilitator of learning. My job is to guide the students in their discover and to always be observing both formatively and summatively to provide students with feedback and adapt the lessons for students' learning needs.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I have been on the President's list at my university several times. I was a member of the National Honors Society and graduated from high school with honors.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I am currently a junior at Dallas Baptist University. I am an EC-6 major. I will graduate in May 2016. I am currently in the classroom through the Field Base program. I have had experience teaching preschhol, kindergarten, and 2nd grade. I also work with middle school students through my church.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

The most important things in my life are my faith in Christ, my family, and my students. I love to learn and am constantly researching and discovering new things. I am passionate about children, sharing the love of Christ, and showing them how they can achieve their best. Teaching is my heart and passion. I believe that all students can learn and that anything is possible. My job is to help empower students to succeed by equipping them with the tools and strategies to help them learn and thrive.
