My undergrad is in special education grades K-12 and Elementary education grades K-6. I spent eight weeks in a fourth grade regular education classroom for my student practicum and the other eight weeks in a life skills classroom. I have taught K-2 as a special education resource room teacher for three years. Currently, I am a first grade teacher. I have been teaching first grade for two years now.
I'm not sure if I have completely found my own teaching stlye yet per say. I kind of combined a lot of things I have observed and adopted my own unique teaching style. I really like spontaneous teaching but that is rare in today's educational system due to all of the expectations. I also really like "whole brain" teaching. If you have never heard of it....google it and watch a few video clips. I like to be really positive and enthusiastic while teaching because if I am excited so are my students!
I have been awarded with deans list in my undergraduate and graduated with cum laude. Just recently recieved my diploma for my masters program and graduated wiith suma cum laude.
I attended a typical Pre-K-5 school for elementary school and a typical middle school which was grades 6-8. I then attended a four year highschool program in which I was in the S.O.A.R. program. (Students of Academic Renoun) This was an honors program. I attended SCSU for my undergrad in special education and regular elementary education with minors in psychology, socioloy and wellness. I just completed my Master's program from the University of Saint Joseph's. I now have my Masters degree in Special Education.
I am also a zumba instructor and I like to promote fitness and health. I think I am a pretty creative person and I am very excited about all the information I can obtain and share from this awesome website!
