I taught seven years in a Kindergarten classroom and loved it. One day, my principal asked if I would try 4th grade. I took the leap and haven't looked back! It is the best, they are still sweet and want to please and you are able to do so much with them. I began my 7th year of 4th grade this school year.
Consistency is the key!! We have lots of fun but I am sure to be VERY consistent while enforcing rules and procedures. I make the procedures clear on the first day of school and don't waiver. I enjoy finding new lessons and resources often and LOVE TPT! My wish list is always a mile long....
Each year, our city has "Senior Citizen I Know" essay contest. Only 30 winner across the city are chosen and there is often over 1,500 entries. I am proud of my student's achievements having won at least five years of the seven I have taught 4th grade. Some years, my class has even had two winners! Wow! Another incredible blessing I received last year, I won a contest at the local Mall. I was nominated by a parent for a "Loved Teacher" contest, and many voted for 10 days straight. I won a $500 giftcard and certificate! :)
In my scrapbook from 1st grade, I wrote that I wanted to be a teacher. I have always known it, it just took me a while to get there. I married and had three children while still a baby myself. As they were entering school, it was time for me to go back to school. It took awhile but after many years, I finally earned my bachelors in Elementary Education!
