TEACHING EXPERIENCE

This is my first year as a full-time teacher. My discipline is in Deaf Education and I teach 6th, 7th, and 8th grade writing and mathematics. I have experience in working at a deaf school as well as a regional day school program in various capacities. This website will only offer math tools at the moment as I am new to this. More may be added later into the future.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I teach it like it is. I noticed my students do better when they are shown an example and then they try a problem themselves, with some support. I tend to pace back and forth and use an interactive whiteboard as well as ActivInspire which allows me to use the whiteboard however I wish.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I hold three academic degrees: Associates in Arts and Sciences with studies in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Bachelors of the Arts in Communication Sciences and Disorders with concentration in Deaf education, and a Masters of Science in Deaf Studies and Deaf Education.

I am Deaf myself and I love to teach math because it is a visual language that all can understand, despite being able to hear. I teach my students to disregard their deafness and set high expectations for them that I know they can achieve. I hope what I have created will help your students do the same.
