I was a 2013 Teach For America corps member placed in Oklahoma City. I taught kindergarten my first year and looped with my kids to first grade. I am now an alumni of TFA and continue to teach kindergarten in Oklahoma City. Both of the schools I have worked at are urban low-income schools where 100% of the kids receive free lunch. In my first two years of teaching on average my students made over 1.8 years of reading growth both years!
I believe that kids are kids and need to learn through play. Hands on experiences are the best. Social and emotional growth are just as important as academics.

My identity in education is definitely early childhood education. In addition to teaching, I plan and facilitate content and instructional sessions for TFA corps members during their two year commitment.
