TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have taught Pre-K-4th for 20 years. I served on district committees in curriculum and CTE for a total of 6 years. I served on my state standardized test item review teams (AIMS) for 2 years. I do professional development for my school and teachers from the district visit my classroom to learn about common core implementation.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I consider myself more of a facilitator. My classroom time is divided into more small group and one on one periods than whole group periods. I encourage personal responsibility for learning.

I am a graduate of the University of Hawaii with a bachelors of education. I am a member of the NEA.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Between my early years of teaching and later years, I remained home with my children for 13 years. I was fortunate to be able to do that and that experience was invaluable when I returned to the classroom in 1999.
