I'm a self taught artist and have taught children fine art for over 20 years now. By always being the student as well as the teacher I've learned that children learn in different ways. I started teaching my own children, then their friends and now my teaching has bloomed into a full time adventure! I've self published two children's books; Ms. Wood's Wild Art Adventures and Ben the English Afghan Hound View my website for art lesson samples and pictures of my books! www.janwoodharrisart.com
My teaching style is relaxed and fun loving, yet focused. I want my students to feel no pressure to ‘get it right’, yet, I encourage them to embrace and understand the techniques needed to draw objects, landscapes, portraits, animals etc., in a way that brings certain realism to their art. Then, from that point of understanding of techniques, the freedom and creativity to develop their own style while building on their abilities and joyful confidence with each project.
