TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have taught 3rd grade at three different schools, in three different socioeconomic communities, all within the same school district. I love the grade level and the content matter that comes with it!

MY TEACHING STYLE

I teach in a variety of different ways specific to my students. I use graphic organizers, interactive smart board and powerpoint presentations, and anchor charts when teaching whole class. I can modify these to teach in small groups (which in many cases I prefer to teach a smaller group of students). In my classroom, we follow the Daily 5 structure during Language Arts which gives me the chance to meet with all of my students either independently, in their reading groups, or in flex groups. I much prefer interactive activities as opposed to me speaking. The art of investigation in children is incredibly important!

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I graduated from The Master's University in 2014 with a BA in History. I went through my entire college career thinking I was going to teach high school. However, I changed my mind after working in a preschool through 6th grade child development program. Elementary school aged children stole my heart for 4 years, until I graduated college with a new dream. I received my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from the University of LaVerne and have been teaching ever since! I'm currently working on completing my Masters in Education.
