Teacher in private and public schools in the Boston area for 35 years. I've taught just about everything while working with kids who have special needs including vocational skills, computer literacy, ELA, math, science, social studies, study skills, cooking, art, aerobics, etc. I've worked in elementary and high school and with post secondary students for job training.
I've learned to adapt curriculum to meet the needs of individual students in a variety of situations. A lot of what I do is teacher centered encouraging student response and discussion. I have found that students with special needs benefit from direct teaching with a lot of practice and one-to-one assistance.
