I am in my eleventh year of teaching. This is my second year teaching fifth grade gifted-- and I teach just math and science! Prior to this year, I taught fourth grade for nine years, which included four years of teaching the advanced class. Though my primary subjects are math and science, I was a Language Arts teacher for an entire decade, too. My websites are love5thgrade.blogspot.com, teachingvision.net, and thisisscience.net.
Hands-on, real-world experiences are AWESOME. Enough said. =)
I was honored to be chosen as Scholastic's national teacher advisor for grades 3-5 for the 2009-2010 school year. Besides that, I have attended Tweetups through the Smithsonian and NASA. Best of all, though-- and this is purely opinion-- I am a Space Camp for Educators alum, which is one of the coolest things I have ever had the opportunity to do!
I graduated from Flagler College in 2004 with my Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education. I am certified to teach grades K-6.
In addition to being the court jester of an incredibly scientific fifth grade realm called Jasztalville, I am also a middle school Technology Club advisor! The Maker Revolution is occurring at my wonderful K-8 school in central Florida!
