TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I spent my first two years in an intensive program where I was sent to a failing district in Misissippi to raise district scores. Both years were spent preparing 10th graders for a background on US history and tutoring 11th graders for their state test. Over 75% passed on their first take! This was a district high, and I'm so proud of them. I then taught middle school ELA in Texas for two years, getting a group of students in a Title 1 school ready for their standardized tests. This was hard, but over 2 years I raised their pass rate by almost 20%! Now I'm the director of a K-5 enrichment program (also in TX) that identifies student needs and creates curriculum to meet it. I'm so lucky to work with these amazing kids!

MY TEACHING STYLE

Fast paced and interactive, using as many cultural references and organizers as possible to cater to every kind of learner.
