I have been teaching for 20 years. I have spent the majority of my career teaching at Title I schools.
I believe in the gradual release model of teaching. This provides students practice with the teacher, other students, and builds their confidence on their way to achieving the lesson objective independently. I also incorporate differentiated instruction.
I was honored to be chosen 2011 Teacher of the Year by my faculty and staff. In 2011, I was awarded over two hundred dollars worth of books through the Donor's Choose website. Last year, I was awarded a grant for one hundred and ninety dollars to begin a reading incentive program in my classroom. I have served as team leader for two years and was chosen by my pricipal to be a member of our school Reading Leadership Team.
I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. I am certified to teach first through sixth grade. I received my ESOL (English Speakers of Other Languages) Endorsement in 1992. I am also eligible to host interns.
