TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I taught for 12 years as a classroom teacher — two years in second grade and ten years in first grade. I was a K-5 literacy coach for four years and specialized in using a balanced-literacy approach and showing teachers how to integrate technology into the curriculum. My technology experience helped me get a position as a technology facilitator in which I helped set up model iPad classrooms. For the past seven years, I have been an educational consultant and curriculum designer.

MY TEACHING STYLE

A teacher acts as a facilitator who differentiates instruction using a variety of techniques, including technology. I believe in the power of technology, but only when used effectively. Teachers must understand learning theory and how it relates to the impact on student achievement.
