I am in my sixteenth year of teaching. I have experience teaching first grade, third grade, and I am now in my third year of teaching fourth grade. In addition, I teach fifth grade reading and language arts. I have experience teaching all levels of students - from students with special needs to students who are in the Talented and Gifted program (I am Gifted Certified). I also have experience with planning model units for my county's curriculum department.
I am very passionate about teaching Reading and Language Arts and will only teach those subjects in the upcoming year as our school departmentalizes. I believe in immersing students in real literature and with providing students with the tools necessary to be successful, life-long learners. My main goal as an educator is to develop a love of reading in all of my students. I teach the Common Core Standards, and I am always striving to learn more ways to reach out to my students and to help them succeed. My expectations are high, but I know that all students can learn.
I have been nominated for Teacher of the Year.
I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing and a Master of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education. I am also certified to teach gifted education.
I always strive to be the best I can be and to always learn.
