I used this with my second graders. Blank forms were kept in one spot for students to fill out. When they were completed, they were handed in to me. I found this form limited the amount of tattling to what the students were really concerned about.

I used these lessons in my first grade classroom. I have included handouts and a student reflection sheet. These handouts coordinate with lessons from The Learning Pad. This is a phenomenal website with lessons for those of us just starting out.

I used this in my second grade classroom. It was developed after a conversation I had with students and parents where it became clear that students were not communicating what we had done during the day. I developed this exit slip so that families

I spent the day searching TPT for rigorous leveled fact fluency sheets, but came up empty handed so I did what any good seller would and created one. This set includes mixed review with missing addends, minuends, and math symbols. These sheets

I used this book in the beginning of the year. I replicated the journal page multiple times. Each day we choose a number and students wrote the number on the page. They used manipulatives to find combinations for the number. For example, if the

To begin each new school year I explain what I now call "the Band-Aid theory" to my first graders. I ask them to imagine that we are out at recess and one student falls down. This student has scraped his or her knee and requires a Band-Aid. I ask

This sheet is used in conjunction with a word work center in class. I create a 4x4 grid on the back of a classroom door and put one letter in each square. These create words that we are doing in our word program which happens to be Fundations.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am new to TPT, but not new to education. I have been working in classrooms since 1993. My focus has always been Early Childhood education. I have worked in Pre-K, K, 1, and grade 2 rooms. I have spent the last eight years in first grade inclusion room (minus one move to grade two for a year).

MY TEACHING STYLE

I try to keep things interesting for my students. I am a firm believer in Multiple Intellingences and try to mix things up. I keep kids moving, thinking, and always working on something beneficial. Busy work in my room is practically non-existant. Also, I just finished my first year conducting Reader's Workshop. I am a converted believer! I am struggling like everyone to balance all of the demands placed on us. It sure keeps things interesting!

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Nothing official, just the joy, honor, and love of my students!

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I recieved my BS in ECE from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 1999 and my Masters in Literacy, Language, and Learning from Lesley University in 2005.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I just recently started a blog about Reader's Workshop. Check it out at http://readersworkshopconstructionsite.blogspot.com/
