I taught 3rd grade for thirteen years until moving to first grade 3 years ago. First grade has become my passion.
I am flexible but have high expectations for first graders. I love the challenge of meeting the needs of all the different levels of learners in my classroom.
I presented a workshop on using Bloom's Taxonomy with third graders in the question asking process at the Blue Ribbon Schools For Excellence convention in Reading, MA.
I come from a long line of teachers. I studied Child Development at Tufts and earned both my Bachelors and Masters from Tufts. Despite "keeping my options open," the minute I stepped into a classroom, I knew. In addition to teaching, for 13 years, I worked as a Child Life Specialist on the weekends at the Floating Hospital for Children in Boston.
"If a child is to keep alive his inborn sense of wonder, he needs the companionship of at least one adult who can share it, rediscovering with him the joy, the excitement,, and the mystery of the world we live in." - Rachel Carlson Even as an adult I strive to keep my inborn sense of wonder. In the past 12 months, I have run a marathon for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, jumped from an airplane, and completed my first Spartan Race at Fenway Park. I can't wait to see what 2014 has in store for me!
