I was a 3rd grade teacher of all subjects at a Title 1 school for 5 years. I am currently a K-5 Mathematics Coach and Mathematics Resource Teacher.
I believe that students learn by doing, but ultimately my teaching style depends on the learning style of my students. I always begin with a student centered approach when planning, as I prefer cooperative learning groups and inquiry based learning as opposed to lecture.
I was the 2013/2014 Spotlight Teach of the Year. I was nominated for the Dwyer Award in 2014.
I have a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with ESOL endorsement and I am in the process of completing my master's degree in Educational Leadership and Curriculum.
I love traveling to new places, trying new things, meeting new people and more importantly sharing my experiences with my my students. My favorite subject is actually Social Studies, but since there is really no demand for a Social Studies Coach, I settled for next best! I am the Academic Games Coach as well as the SECME coordinator at my school. Both clubs have fostered my preference in hands on learning.
