TEACHING EXPERIENCE

My name is Jennifer Hall. I currently serve as one of Atlanta Public Schools' Educational Technology Specialists (ETS). As a member of the Instructional Technology Department, I work with teachers to integrate technology into their instructional planning. I had the joy of being a middle school language arts teacher for seventeen years, teaching gifted language arts for nine years. Along with teaching my gifted 6th, 7th, and 8th grade ELA classes, I served as the Grade Level Director of the Gifted & Talented Academy. I was a curriculum writer for the district's Gifted and Talented Department. Several of my thematic units have been utilized throughout the school district. Highlighting my passion for instructional technology, I have presented several professional development sessions on technology integration and the Common Core.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My passion is technology integration and curriculum development. My former students would tell you that I love all things tech. In fact the students gave me the nickname Tech Wiz 911, since all the teachers in the building came to me for technology assistance and it was always an "emergency." Hence "911".

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

In 2014, I served as one of the district's Demonstration Classroom Teachers. In 2013, I was selected as one of 10 Atlanta Public Schools' educators to receive the Atlanta Families' Award for Excellence in Education (AFAEE). The award afforded me the opportunity to expand my Shakespeare Student Film Project. Proudly, my 8th graders were featured on WSBTV's People 2 People. During the 2011-2012 school year I was selected as one of five national teachers of the year by izzit.org. I have been recognized as a Georgia Distinguished Educator of the Year for middle school. In 2005-2006 I was J.E. Brown’s Teacher of the Year (TOTY) and an Atlanta Public Schools Middle School Teacher of the Year Semi-Finalist.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I hold both a bachelor’s degree in English Education and a master’s degree in Reading Education and Language Arts from Florida State University.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Proudly, I am a National Board Certified Teacher (NBCT) in the area of Early Adolescence – English/Language Arts. In my spare time, I am an avid traveler and passionate photographer.
