My experience spans the intermediate grades in both teaching and curriculum development. I enjoy reading, writing, and wondering about the world and hope to encourage your students to do the same with my creations!
I believe students are motivated to learn when content is relevant and varied, and when they have a choice in how they learn. While earning my degree, I completed and presented a thesis on integrating literature into the content areas of math, science, and social studies. I remain passionate about integrating subject areas to engage students and to enable teachers to make the most of their instructional time.
When tasked to describe their school year in three words, a recent group of students chose "unique, inspired, strong." These words exemplify my biggest accomplishment as a teacher. I have empowered children to be proud of their unique selves, and I have inspired learning and growth. I have taught in a way that allows students to feel strong in their ability to apply skills learned in my classroom. I have made a difference in the lives of these students and many others, and I hope to do the same for your students, too!
I graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree in Elementary Education and have completed some coursework towards a Masters of Education in Curriculum & Instruction.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, reading, playing the clarinet, and writing children’s/young adult literature.
