I graduated from Whitnall High School in 1995. I then attended the University of Wisconsin-Platteville where I received my bachelors degree in Elementary Education(1-9) and Spanish in May of 2000. I began my teaching career at Lake Denoon in 2000 and taught there for six years until moving over to Bay Lane Middle School. In 2001, I went back to school and obtained my masters degree in Professional Development from the University of Wisconsin - LaCrosse in December of 2002. I coached softball at Muskego High School for 5 years, three years at the freshman level, and two years at the Junior Varsity(JV) level. I was the Odyssey of the Mind Building coordinator at Lake Denoon Middle School for 3 years and am currently the Destination Imagination Building coordinator at Mill Valley Elementary School. Through the years I have taught Foreign/World Cultures, Spanish, Reading & Writing, 6th - 8th grade Intervention, 7th and 8th grade Social Studies, and 8th grade Literacy. The past 14 years I primarily taught Spanish 1 and Spanish 2. Last year, I was happy to transition into teaching 8th grade Literacy. I have a great passion for reading, writing, and grammar...I know...grammar...I’m weird! I hope this year to inspire your child to find that book they can’t put down, to write with passion, and to learn some new grammar rules!
My biggest beliefs in education are: 1. Every child has a special gift to give this world - my job is to help them find that gift. 2. Every child deserves to learn, grow, and succeed. 3. Building relationships with children is the key to creating a positive learning environment where children aren’t afraid to take risks.
