My education background is in public health with a specialization in international health. I spent several years teaching English in Thailand to high school and college students after finishing my degrees. As I became a wife and mom, I knew I wanted to continue teaching but also have time with my own children. This is my 5 th year teaching as a certified teacher with 3 years of previous experience overseas. I am currently teaching newcomers. I have 22 students in my class from 3 different countries who speak Spanish, Burmese, and several dialects of Chin. They are in junior high and this is their first time in US schools. I was also blessed to be contracted a sa varsity volleyball an basketball coach when my children were small and now coach junior high.
If you were to walk into my classroom, you would see a certain level of controlled chaos. I have students in small groups daily as well as a whole group time. In order to develop all 4 linguistic domains ( listening, speaking, reading, and writing) it is important that students are practicing; therefore I believe the controlled chaos is necessary.
I was featured in a story by our local newspaper. I won teacher of the year!!
