TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am in my third year of teaching second grade EL in Minnesota. Before my career in the US, I worked at an international school in London, England.

MY TEACHING STYLE

As an EL co-teacher, I design lessons for the English learners through the content of their mainstream classrooms. My students learn and practice vocabulary usage, linguistic complexity, and language control, mostly through writing!

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

M.A in ESL Education (K-12) from the University of St. Thomas | CELTA from Cambridge University | B.A. in Spanish Linguistics from the University of Minnesota

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

As a bicultural child, I didn't learn my mother's home language. I still mourn the loss of the personality I could have had, the things I could have experienced, and all I could have known had I learned her home language. Because of this experience, I strongly believe that students should learn and maintain their native languages. Our ELs add so many skills and strengths to our classrooms!
