I am currently in my 11th year as an educator. I began as an assistant in an EC Pre-K classroom while I worked on my Master's Degree in education. I began as a 5th grade teacher, and eventually found my niche in 2nd grade.
I firmly believe that EVERY child can learn and I support that by differentiating my instruction to meet the needs of all of my students. I love for my students to learn things "hands on", so I include lots of movement, lots of interaction, and lots of activitiy in my classroom.
For me, the shining teacher moments are day to day when you see a child understand something for the first time.
I received my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. When I realized my passion was teaching, I went back to school to pursue special education. I later decided to focus on regular education so I have a dual certification in both EC and Regular Education, as well as my Master's Degree.
I don't look at teaching as my job, it is simply what I was meant to do. My students inspire me to learn and create new things all the time, and if I can share that with other people, I am happy to do so.
