I have over 25 years of experience as an educator. I spent over ten years as a classroom teacher for primary and middle-grade students. For the past fourteen years, I’ve been a reading specialist working with individual and small groups of students from kindergarten to eighth grade on reading, English, writing, and organizational skills. In addition, I’m active on school improvement committees and serve as a resource to teachers and parents.
I believe in helping students succeed by setting goals, finding creative ways to connect learning to personal interests, guiding each step, building confidence, and celebrating all the big and small successes in their journey. Each day I strive to provide consistency and model patience, perseverance, positive thinking, and joy for my students.
Archdiocese of Omaha Urban Elementary Educator of the Year 2020 Early on in my career a student came up to me after class and said, “Do you know your eyes sparkle when you teach us?" She had put into words what I felt-- joy. It made me realize teaching was so much more than a job.

I’m a wife and mom of three kids in high school and college. When I’m not teaching I’m writing middle-grade fiction manuscripts, working puzzles, and going for walks.
