TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I've worked as an Occupational Therapist for 20+ years in a variety of settings but primarily in schools. Most of my students are pre-K through 6th grade, with a range of developmental delays, autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, and sensory processing dysfunction.

MY TEACHING STYLE

While much of my OT intervention can be integrated in the classroom to support the teacher's lessons, I sometimes need to work with students in a one-on-one setting because of attention issues or for pre-teaching/direct instruction. I'm a firm believer that consultation with teachers and parents is a critical piece of occupational therapy since they are with the children on a daily basis. I also believe that children learn by "doing" and they learn best when movement, music, and hands on experience is a part of the lesson!
