TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Experience 20 years. My primary interest is to provide for my students fun activities that lead them to self-directed learning. I am interested in improving my teaching with a deliberate and conscious intent for my students to learn by providing activities for them that lead to self-directed learning.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My passion is to use strategies that will enable me to reach all of my students with the understanding that they each come to class with different abilities and different circumstances that affect their individual capacities to learn. I compose my lesson plans with their diverse needs in mind and try to allow for flexibility in my strategies so that I can respond to the needs of my students and provide opportunities for all to benefit. I am careful to be mindful that each student has a right to succeed and am careful not to overlook the needs of my gifted students at the expense of the others. I try to my best to construct an environment full of possibilities for the individual learner, or group of learners, to assume responsibility and take charge of their own learning experience in order to discover their strengths and to develop lifelong learning skills.

Since my goal is to be an effective teacher, I constantly am evaluating my performance by assessing the progress of my students. If I see better results with a particular strategy or method of presenting, I will continue with that method and try to find ways to improve upon it. If I see inadequate results, I will look for better ways to help my students.
