I have been teaching since 2005 in public schools in Portland and Woodburn, Oregon. I currently teach 2nd grade in a Dual Immersion English/ Spanish program. I will be teaching in a small international school in the Dominican Republic during the 2014-15 school year.
I tend towards the big projects, elaborate ideas, and big messes. My goal every year is for my students to leave my room in love with reading and confident that they can learn whatever they want to learn. I have always taught way too many students at once- 31 seven-year-olds this year- and their levels run the gamut. If you walk into my classroom you are likely to see students working cooperatively or independently while I meet with small groups of kids, or perhaps all the chairs in the room in lines as we prepare to board the "airplane" to Bolivia for a month of nation study.

I love to write and am happy to write on demand. Need a book about your class pet giraffe or a reader's theater about worms? All you have to do is ask.
