I am a second and third grade blend teacher, and was previously a first and second grade blend teacher. I hold a K-8 teaching endorsement, and I graduated with a Master of Science degree in Elementary Education and a specialization in Instructional Technology from the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia in 2013.
Hands On = Brain On! In my classroom students are active contributors to their learning through the use of manipulatives, numerous forms of technology, discussions, and "think tank" sessions with their peers. I believe the best learning and retainment of information occurs when students are experimenting, discussing with each other, and posing new questions to answer.

I come from a family of teachers, and I have always been certain that this is my niche. From an early age I loved all aspects of school including the smell of a fresh box of crayons, the feeling of success when I mastered a skill, and the strong sense of community I felt as I walked in the building every morning. My favorite game to play as kid was school, and I of course had to be the teacher! What I treasure the most are the teachers who encouraged my learning through my own exploration of questions and wonders of the world. This I hope to give to my students so that they too develop a love of lifelong learning. In college I immediately got involved with Kappa Delta Pi and the Education Association, and eventually became president of the latter. I have a B.A. in Anthropology and a M.S. in Elementary Education with a specialization in Instructional Technology.
