TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have taught Kindergarten for 2 years. I also taught Reading Recovery for 2 years. I am currently teaching 3rd grade. I have been teaching 3rd grade for 6 years. I teach in an urban setting in Pennsylvania.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Formal Authority, Demonstrator, Facilitator and Delegator are different teaching styles. I feel that at times I may display attributes from more than one of the teaching styles. I would have to say that my teaching style lends itself to student-centered learning. I always plan my lessons with my student's level of engagement in mind. I always think about its relevance. Overall, I find myself delegating what they need to accomplish, demonstrating my expectations, facilitating them through their success and being a formal authoritarian to make sure they are provided with the content they need to get to the next level. Meshing the different teaching styles I think gives my students the best educational learning experience.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Seeing my students faces light up when they have an aha moment is all the awards or honors I need:)

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I went to Penn State for two years and finished my teaching degree at Kutztown University. I am currently one class away from obtaining my Classroom Technology Master from Wilkes University.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I have a wonderful husband. We celebrated our 16 year anniversary this year. We have three beautiful boys. My oldest is going into the 8th grade this year. My middle son is going into the 3rd grade this year. My youngest is still at home because he is only 3 years old. Aside from teaching I love to spend time with my family and cherish every moment with them. I also enjoy helping my husband with his graphics business. I also love technology and learning new things. I have been using TPT for the last two years and love all of the products that I have downloaded. I decided this would be a great place to share some of my ideas.
